Intentional Healing
Do you believe in the power of intention? What about healing, do you think that healing is possible? If you’ve answered yes to both of these questions then believing in intentional healing may be an easy leap for you, or maybe one that you might consider pondering this week. One definition of “intention” is the “quality of purposefulness”. And, “healing”, by definition, is “the process of becoming well”. Therefore, I infer “intentional healing” to be the process of becoming well through the quality of purposefulness. This definition seems to place responsibility on the beholder of thinking, doesn’t it?
“Intentional healing” has been in my thoughts this week, like a mother’s breast is for a hungry infant. I continue to listen to others’ stories, read the news, and notice the suffering of the world and ask myself what can I do? My mind drifts back to intentional healing.
What if we all decided to focus on intentional healing for ourselves, our families, our friends, our communities and the world? That is a big intention, unless you’re seeing from the eyes of a young child.
I’d like to invite you to try an experiment with me this week. Pick one person, group of people, place, etc… that you know that needs a little extra focus right now for whatever reason. Your focus can even be you.
Imagine your focus of intentional healing to be surrounded by pure unconditional love. Hold your focus there for as long as you are able with deep intention for the other being(s) or place. Bring your healing love center with you through your day today, tomorrow and through the week.
Attempt to practice this simple act each day this week. I will bring this intentional healing focus with me into the labyrinth garden this week, as I harvest, tincture and dry medicinal herbs. Namaste.

Ahh…inspiration. In recent days I’ve noticed the change of the season and watched me and my students deal with changes and stress and react. In yoga class on Monday my teacher invited us to do “homework”– breathing into our bellies and feeling our feelings. If our feelings were too scary, then maybe we could imagine them being contained in the room, but just connecting with the belly breath and those feelings. I am trying to do that homework and also invited my students to do it as homework. I think I need to give some of that unconditional love to myself and especially my 5th period. A colleague of mine shared that she had a bad day yesterday, and I said, “Me, too!” and we talked about how October is a very difficult time for the teachers and the students. I think it is time for me to have a little talk with my students about unconditional love and intentional healing. They might think I am a little bit kooky, but I’m not afraid. Thank you, Susie.
Raa Maa Daa Saa Saa Say So Hung….if you would like to sing or chant along with your intentional healing focus this is an amazing healing chant.
Many blessings!
This is very timely – Thanks Susie! Also, Love Love Love the Leap of Faith story. We had a great little visit to Lopez a few weeks ago albeit brief – my labryinth walk was a definite high point of our entire vacation. Thank you so much!!
My focus has been set for this week – Intentional Healing it is. SAA SAY SO HUNG
This comes at such a good time. Someone very dear to me has a worrying result from lab tests, so all my thoughts will be directed toward her. Knowing you are sending intentional healing too is very comforting!
Thanks for the posting Susie, I like this intentional healing and will hold my focus on someone special. RA MA DA SA Cheers, Nick
