Plant Communication
I recently attended a three-day workshop on plant communication. As I became very intimate with my plant, who chose me for the weekend, she and I sang to the same music, communicated through metaphors, and went on a spiritual journey together in a brightly pink and orange lit cave.
Our society and its encompassing intellectual mind might tend to “call me crazy” as I describe this ‘magical communication’, but as I begin to trust myself more, I do not really care that others are judging me. One of my recent teachers asked me, “Susie, what are you afraid of?” “Others judging me”, I embarrassingly replied. “Others will judge you no matter what you do”, she added. So true…this is one conversation I remember now when I trust and express myself. It helps.
I notice that what happened for me that weekend was the extension of another life process. I am finding more frequently that each part of life is another process woven into the rest of life and its processes. This web-like connection, human to human, human to plant, all of life connecting with one another and the knowing that accompanies this connection. This connection is one of wholeness, oneness, Spirit, God, Goddess, Creator, and all of life, all that is. As I delve more deeply into this realm, I find other realms very similar, yet different. And, I understand that we have a lot more potential than we believe.
Lady’s Mantle, the generous plant who ‘chose’ me two weekends ago, has given me much insight. I am receiving her help in forgiveness, hormonal change, confidence, and assertiveness. Although I am an herbalist and historically have used herbs physically, I have not “taken” a single drop of Lady’s Mantle tincture or flower essence yet. Alchemically I am receiving my healing through her.
After feeling validated on that weekend journey, I remember other intimate moments with plants throughout my life, beginning as a child looking for “four-leaf” clovers. Do you know that I still find them? I found one on the evening just prior to our recent luminary labyrinth All Soul’s Day walk last weekend. They just shine or “speak” and I try to pay attention. What are the odds of looking down at the ground in the exact moment and seeing a four-leaf clover amongst a field of clovers?
We all have the capability to communicate with plants. The question one might ask me after this posting is “Why would we want to communicate with a plant? It’s just a plant.” My response is that plants have been on earth for 300-4000 million years as compared to humans who have been around 2000-200,000 years, depending on who you ask, or what you believe. Plants have survived without destroying our planet, unlike humans’ ‘complex’ discoveries to civilize the human race. I believe that plants are trying to communicate with us. We humans have much to learn from plants. The time is here for us to listen with open ears.
With Love,
Susie
yes, plant communication…some folks naturally feel a communicative feeling with plants….or you might sense an intuitive feeling where information come to you through your senses, your inner guidance….alternatively, you may just feel something through your ‘gut’….whatever form your ‘higher self’ takes, is usually the form that you most relate to in that moment….so plant communication may not be your way right now…
I’m still wonder that how plants communication.
I too am a plant communicator and when I heard you on the radio recently I knew I wanted to meet you…maybe at the site today. I have always found plant communication to be rich and life giving and honor this great gift. I honor you as well. blessings of the spring, suzanne
I have always sought solice in the outdoors – surrounded by plants and trees. It’s why I live way back in the woods in the forest. When I am quiet, I notice each one (even though I don’t always know what their “names” are). I am awed by the huge trees I see on Lopez Hill and am reminded that they have been there hundreds of years — what wonderful things they have “seen”. The concept of plant communication does resonate — I will try to listen more.
This tab “plant communication” caught my eye immediately when visiting your site for the first time just now. I have always felt a connection with plants and nature and feel more myself when I am around them. I have been paying more attention to this kinship lately. I am very curious and open to this concept of communicating with plants. I am feeling validated and like I am beginning to understand myself and how I am in the world better by reading the book “The Lost Language of Plants” by Stephen Harrod Buhner. Have you read this book?!! No, its not crazy, we’re not crazy!!, and I believe a lot of our suffering and as race is because we are loosing touch with this…plants…the essence of life…the reason we can exist (O2)! But I want to more than exist. I want to be connected with life, I want to learn from plants!
Yipee!
I agree.

Plants what a wonderful species covering somewhere around 90% , probably greater, of this little blue marble in the wonder. Native peoples, shamans, dreamers, healers and many others have opened their hearts to listen and share the deep wisdom of our green friends who have experienced more in their collective lifetimes than we can fathom. Opening my heart, I too am listening and beginning a new journey of understanding and returning and I feel blessed to have had the experiences plants have shared with me. In the most humble place I have ever been I await my next communication. Awake.
