Cherry Blossoms, April 4
“We need some cherry trees. They’re so beautiful!”, Nick shared with me a few weeks ago after coming from off-island. The first pink buds of spring highlighted and brought freshness to the spring air. They are definitely beautiful! A few days later, looking at the older blossoming pink’s at the post office, a thought came to me “Make a Cherry blossom flower essence”. “There is just something about those Cherry trees”, Nick said again and again. For several days after my thought at the post office, clouds and rain dominated the skies, so my hopes for a flower essence of cherry blossom was postponed until the sunny day that I could collect the blossoms, bring them to the labyrinth with fresh water and a bowl, to soak in the sun in the labyrinth for the day, before bottling and preserving the essence.
The weather forecast for Friday looked like rain, so that day looked like another ‘wash’ as far as creating a cherry blossom essence. Nick shared late Thursday that he needed a spontaneously trip off island to change out our winter tires. “Me too”, I said with a smile. “Garden supplies, plants, and maybe trees” was my first thought, along with other errands we needed to do.
While off-island we stopped by our favorite nursery to ‘look’ at plants. “I want light pink ones, white ones and dark pink ones”, Nick had said earlier in the drive. I imagined our garden with those lovely colors and knew that today was the day, if not to make the flower essence I’d been wishing to make, to purchase some lovely trees that Nick could enjoy year round. Bare roots were there; we bought one of each, a light pink one, white one, and dark pink one with red branches. I added another fruit bearing cherry and plum bare root, along with some Pulsatilla ‘Pasque flower’ plants for the labyrinth.
The planting of these lovely trees will have to wait until Sunday for the moon to be in the right alignment…more on that later.
Interestingly, Cherry Blossom Flower Essence’s focus as to what it helps with comes as no surprise to me, knowing the person who Nick is. Abundance, creativity, security about who you are and doing what you’re good at in a positive way, cheerfulness, community based, inspiration to others, making light out of difficulties – these are all traits that Cherry Blossom resonates with.
Hooray! I’m so glad you found what you wanted!
